Abstract:
Many scholars have argued that ICT is a major contributor to performance of organizations. ICT is a basic infrastructure that can transform the performance of business sectors. Therefore there is need to exploit ICT to strategically position the organizations to benefit from an increasingly information driven global economy. The competitiveness of fim1s in the context of the current economic challenges requires effective management activities and a strategic importance directed towards a better administration of knowledge and the impact of lnformation Technology and Communication on organizational stmctures. The researcher sought to evaluate the perceived effect of lCT on perfonnance of SACCOs in Kenya through a census survey of licensed SACCOs in Nairobi County. The study specifically evaluated the level of awareness, the levels of innovations, existing infrastructure. A Survey research design was used and data collected using questionnaires and quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study investigated the causal effect and the strength of the relationships by conducting a multiple regression analysis. The study found that membership and productivity increase as more of the lCT’s is incorporated in the SACCOs. The study found that many SACCOs are fully computerized while just a few others were partially computerized. The study found that training helps improve performance in the SACCO. The study found that the SACCOs survival will depend on what kind of lCT’s they are using and how well the employees and the members are conversant with the technology. The study concludes that lCTs provides reliable access to markets and that training pertains to programs that facilitate leaming process and is A good nuinberly a shon-term activity to help people do their jobs better.. The study recommends SACCOs to adopt new technology. They need to use new technologies to create new markets, new products and tap opportunities that arise as a result ofinnovation.
