Egerton University was founded as a farm school in 1939 by Lord Maurice Egerton of Tatton, a British National. In 1950, the school was upgraded to a college. In 1986, the college was gazetted as a constituent college of the University of Nairobi. In 1987, Egerton University was fully established through an Act of Parliament.
Scientific research and its application stimulate socio-economic and industrial development of nations. Training and research are core activities of institutions of higher learning. Egerton University staff and students conduct research in various disciplines. The research week is an annual forum whose purpose is to share with peers and other stakeholders the findings of the various researches conducted over the years. This sharing will contribute to Egerton’s realization of its vision of being ‘A World Class University for Advancement of Humanity’.
